Gaslamp Escape Room

Such a well-designed experience! My husband (an escape room veteran) and I (a relative novice) did this room with our two kids, ages 8 and 10. We let the kids take the lead in trying to solve most of the puzzles and provided some guidance and critical thinking help when they got stumped. All four of us had a great time in the room. The puzzles were just the right mix of challenging and accessible, and I loved how well the puzzles fit within the overall theme and narrative of the room. I think kids as young as six with relatively strong reading skills and plenty of adult help would enjoy this interactive experience, so I would say it's a fantastic place for families to have some fun together. I'm kind of focusing on the family experience because I did the room with my kids, but it's not specifically designed for kids and would be perfect for groups of adults. I've only been through one other escape room experience, but I'd say that this one was way more fun and far better designed. Finally, a random word of advice... if you wear glasses for distance vision, bring them! You will definitely need them.

Gaslamp escape rooms was awesome! We did the Sword in the Study room. The host was amazing and friendly and the room was a lot of fun. There was 2 of us and we have done 70+ rooms and this was a challenge. There were neat surprises and it really made us think! We will definitely be coming back when they open more rooms and I highly recommend trying it out.

What a creative place! A group of five of us went to Gaslamp and had a wonderful afternoon there. The puzzles required thinking outside the box, the locks were all unique, and the room was used efficiently to spread the clues all around. Much of the time, I was distracted by the careful details put into the props and decorations. We were quite impressed with the quality of the production! While the clues were difficult, they are doable, and we felt that much more accomplished when we were able to solve them. The game master was in touch the whole time and gave us helpful hints when we needed it. As a team, we laughed a lot and had a fun time. I can't wait to see what their next theme will be!

Just had a great experience! Went in with as a group of 4 (2 of which were veterans and 1 of which had just done his first escape room earlier today. I've only done 1 other escape room prior to this) and we plouwed right into it. The room was composed of a bunch of different types of puzzles ranging from the mechanical, to the thoughtful, and through to the strictly observational. We didn't hit any major snags, didn't become frustrated, and the game master would chime in at exactly the right time with just enough direction or clarification for us to keep us on the trail. What stands out to me is the amount of research into escape room design the host talked about and clearly showed in execution. To put it simply, he *knows* what he's doing and this is reflected in the design, both in the puzzles as well as the theming and decoration. The theme, decor and production value alone will keep me coming back, but the best part was the puzzles! They captured the perfect balance! They stretched our groups minds, but had enough clues to keep the game fun and well paced.
