The Asylum is a fantastic escape room. The design of the room is top notch. You truly feel you are thrown into a creepy asylum and all the elements of sights and sounds and smells are heightened. We felt the game play was a more than intermediate and the fact that flashlights are necessary for a lot of the room due to the ambience makes the room a little more challenging for those of us that now use reading glasses. Unfortunately we aren’t local but if we were, we would definitely come back to try the other rooms.

We had a ton of fun doing the Agent 13 escape room! We were a group of 8 and ended with a group of 5 as we lost three people due to claustrophobia. There was one small room (an elevator) that was difficult if you don’t like small spaces. Other than that, it was great! Bernadette was an excellent Game Master! Super friendly and patient as we navigated the rooms and needed clues! This one was a little more difficult than we thought it would be so we didn’t escape, but we enjoyed it! We will definitely do it again!

Overall: The puzzles could use some work. The theming and set design was stellar, but could sometimes interfere with the experience (like when required text was unreadable because it was supposed to look "old"). Some technical aspects of the game could also be improved. I have played four rooms at this location. Two of the rooms were played on the date of this review, and the other two were played about a year ago. This review describes the more recent experience. Today (4/8/25): Spellbound and Death Row A year before review: Disappearance of Flight 13 and Tomb of Anubis Puzzles: Overall are quite frustrating, more so in Anubis and Spellbound than in the others. Some puzzles would take a very long time for a small pay-off (and would have to be redone multiple times). Black lights and flashlights were running out of battery/turning off and on their own. Required text would be too difficult to read in some cases. Set Design: Amazing, incredibly well-themed rooms with great immersion, except for the game master having to fill in the technical gaps with replacement of flashlights/blacklights and hinting of how puzzles worked when they didn't make sense. Staff: Our game master, Courtney, was amazing. She made us feel hyped up and excited to go through the room. Our group doesn't like to ask for hints, so Courtney would give us little nudges when needed. If anything, she made our experience a lot better and avoided "over hinting."

I used to live outside of Baton Rouge and this was the only escape room I’ve ever been too. I always thought it had movie quality props and the rooms were top tier but I honestly didn’t have anything to compare it too. I have since moved to HTX and I’ve come to realize that 13th Gate Escape is just top tier PERIOD. I have done EVERY room and each one surpasses my expectations and just when I think the production couldn’t possibly be any better than the last room we did… I would be proven wrong lol. My top rooms are: Cutthroat Island, Agent 13, Tomb of Anubis and Flight 13. But honestly, EVERY SINGLE ROOM is a mind boggling masterpiece and absolutely mind blowing how creative, immersive and interactive each of the rooms are. Production is…crazy. Also noting that the staff has always been accommodating, pleasant, friendly and super helpful. The management staff has always worked with me in the past when I had time conflict issues. They were able to accommodate me with their best abilities and it was always appreciated. If you are local or traveling thru BTR, I would highly recommend y’all come try out a room or 2. It’s so so fun and a great date night experience!! This place is my favorite❤️

We had a team building event for a few coworkers. We did the Flight 13 room. It was an amazing experience. We didn’t make it out but had fun working together!
